TRAX Ambassador

Description

Step into the dynamic role of TRAX Ambassador (Part-Time), where you will immerse yourself with our riders and become a vital, visible, and welcoming presence onboard the TRAX train. As a TRAX Ambassador you join our UTA eco-system of support by engaging customers face-to-face with a friendly and upbeat attitude the public in getting to where they need to go. In this brand-new position, you’re not just a participant; you’re a trailblazer. This is a new pilot program, expected to last around 1 year, and we need you as a Trax ambassador to help make it successful.

As the TRAX Ambassador (Part-Time), you will:

  • Actively engage with riders and provide daily reporting to help inform the future of the program.
  • Provide a supportive presence onboard TRAX train, including providing information, resources, and answering customer questions while treating all riders with dignity, respect, and kindness. 
  • Provide guidance to apps, tools, ADA accessibility and relevant resources to gain real time information and/or language assistance.
  • Work in varied conditions, with potential exposure to extreme weather.
  • Report to TRAX supervisors and leadership team while working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Share timely feedback about service or property maintenance to appropriate departments.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • This is a part time, temporary position expected to last the length of the pilot program – 1 year.
  • There are two working shifts available: M-F 6 am to 9:30 am or M-F 4-9 pm. UTA may determine to pilot this program on weekends if necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: 

  • Experience in customer service or related role providing face to face information with ability to solve problems and resolve customer inquiries; working with underrepresented communities.
  • Some experience working with underrepresented communities experiencing homelessness, or at-risk categories (Preferred but not required)
  • Experience in providing trauma-informed care (preferred but not required).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Be at least 18 years old.

TRAINING/LICENSES: 

  • Successfully complete a required training program (provided by UTA upon hire).
  • Training in CPR and emergency preparedness (preferred but not required).
  • Valid Utah Driver’s License with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years; cannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years. (Preferred, but not required)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish or other) (in addition to English). (Preferred, but not required)
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and customer service skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • De-escalation skills.
  • Tracking/recording-keeping.
  • Communicate with supervisors and customers and maintain good customer relations both orally and over the phone and radio.
  • Read and understand training materials, operating manuals, and operating and safety rules and directives.
  • Work independently without supervision.
  • Perform the physical requirements of the job to include continuous walking, carrying supplies; Able to climb stairways without difficulty.
  • This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay: $16.827 Per Hour
