University of Utah Chronic Low Back Pain Study

Study ImageAbout the Study:

DO I QUALIFY?

We are currently inviting people who suffer from chronic low back pain and want to learn how to cope with pain and stress to participate in this study.

This study is being conducted to understand the effectiveness of group behavioral treatment for persons with chronic pain conditions who are being treated with prescription opioid painkillers (e.g., Vicodin, Oxycontin, Hydrocodone, Lortab, Tramadol, etc.). Study treatments may involve learning psychological coping skills and receiving two fMRIs.

You do NOT need to stop or reduce your pain medication to be in this study, though your medication use may change while you are in the study. Those decisions remain between you and your doctor and will not affect your study participation. You will NOT be required to take a new medication as part of this study since this study is testing behavioral group treatments.

If you are interested in learning more about the study or finding out if you qualify, please give us a call at 801-581-7508, call/text at 801-631-9185, or email us at utahpainstudy@utah.edu.
