JOB SUMMARY

Initiate, facilitate and assist clients through substance use disorder treatment during supervision. Provide clinical recommendations, crisis management and conduct classes at Criminal Justice Services and/or the jail. Provides consistent communication with treatment providers and documentation of treatment progress.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Grade 14

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.  Preferred certification as a: ASUDC, LASUDC, LSAC or equivalent.

Grade 15

Must possess and maintain current licensure for the respective discipline, i.e., LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT etc. at time of hire.

Both Grades:

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

Employees must successfully pass current "jail pass" requirements and annually complete all training requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Utilizes the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment to identify clients recommended level of care (LOC) and facilitate the treatment intake process.
  • Works with clients in crisis by providing crisis management, assessing safety and creating safety plans.
  • Collaborates with treatment providers to facilitate clients progress and provide liaison duties for the agency.
  • Meets with clients and maintains a caseload; monitors clients progress in treatment and may deliver brief interventions when needed.
  • Assists in resolving identified client barriers and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team
  • Maintains accurate and up to date documentation of all encounters.
  • Provides written and verbal communication with the courts, allied agencies, and case managers on client’s progress in
  • Conducts evidence-based classes for CJS clients.

Knowledge of:

  • Abnormal psychology, including mental health and substance use
  • Methods of treatment for mental health and substance use disorders
  • Agencies and organizations in the community that provide services to persons with mental health and/or substance use disorders
  • The structure and function of organizations and agencies (i.e., Social Services, Criminal Justice, etc.) that interface with mental health and substance use disorder service systems
  • Principles and techniques of behavior assessment and modification
  • Effective interviewing and evaluation skills including Motivational Interviewing
  • Psychotherapy modalities and evidence based theoretical frameworks
  • Ethical and professional behavior
  • Professional treatment standards including appropriate client and staff boundaries
  • Diagnostic Services Manual for Mental Disorders DSM IVR, Addiction Severity Index (ASI), American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and/or Patient Placement Criteria (PPC)

Works virtually, in office and/or jail environment. Travels to court hearings, meets with clients and treatment providers face-to-face and performs office related duties. 

This position is 8-5 M-F with potential for at least 1 weekday later evening class facilitation.
