Project Description:
Dr. Loomis will partner with consultants from the University of Illinois-Chicago, UNC Chapel Hill, and George Mason to develop a preliminary observational measure of trauma-informed teaching in preschool classrooms. They will enlist experts on trauma-informed care in early childhood education, including teachers, researchers, directors, and parents, and use a Delphi expert consensus method to come to consensus on what trauma-informed teaching looks like and how it differs from generally “good” teaching. This project will serve as the preliminary measure of trauma-informed teaching that they will pilot using some secondary videos of teaching observations, data that will serve as the foundation for a larger grant proposal.
