Mutual Healing: Peer Support as a Critical Component of Aftercare for Survivors of Sex Trafficking
European Conference on Domestic Violence (ECDV) Symposium 2025 Presentation
September 2025
Description: Aftercare is essential for survivors of sex trafficking to promote healing and well-being, yet little research exists on effective models and best practices for sustained support. Peer support and survivor leader models may be ideal as they utilize individuals with lived experience to provide care to those with similar life experiences, while being mutually beneficial through positive relationships and interactions. This research study explored the functions of peer support for survivors of sex trafficking.
