About Program
The CDA’s UREACH Peer Mentor Program is designed to support students with disabilities at the University of Utah. Students must be registered with the Center for Disability and Access to participate in the program. Students meet one on one with a peer mentor throughout the semester or the school year. The program helps students connect to a social network on campus, learn about campus resources, build self-advocacy skills, understand the accommodation process, and learn executive functioning skills for college.
Job Summary
This position will start Fall 2025. Some training will be required over the summer but can be done virtually. In-person position starts the week of August 11, 2025. This position will be in person on campus.

UReach Peer Mentors will support students with disabilities in a variety of ways. Most specifically, Peer Mentors will support students in bolstering executive function skills, connecting to campus opportunities and resources, assisting students through the CDA application process, and helping students to build their self-advocacy skills.
Responsibilities
The following list of duties and responsibilities is meant to be illustrative but not exclusive as the UReach program evolves:
- Routinely meet and engage with peers who have opted in to the UReach program.
- Support and coach peers around a variety of topics related to the college experience.
- Compile and maintain summative accounts of meetings and interactions with peers to support ongoing assessment and support of the UReach program.
- Attend regularly scheduled team meetings with fellow mentors and professional staff.
- Participate in tabling or campus events and promote student participation.
- Assist in planning and executing outreach, stewardship, and related activities for program growth related to student recruitment and donor relations.
- Participate in ongoing training or in-service trainings or professional development within UReach, CDA, Student Affairs, or connected to other educational partners of the University of Utah and in service to the UReach aims and mission.
Minimum Qualifications
- Maintains enrollment as a University of Utah undergraduate or graduate student throughout the duration of employment and maintains the university minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA (also considered “good standing” in academic terms).
- Enacts an asset-based lens in problem-solving, peer support, and lifelong learning.
- Desires to hone critical thinking, interpersonal, and empathic mentorship skills.
- Possesses the ability (or capacity to build the ability) to cultivate passion and curiosity related to improving the college experience and environment for students with disabilities.
