Graduate Assistant - Hinckley Institute
Job Summary
The Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah is seeking a talented,
energetic graduate assistant to help with the coordination and support for the U Service
Corps in a fast-paced, professional, student-focused and results-driven environment.
The position requires interaction with prospective and current Hinckley students,
community members, University staff, and individuals in state and federal agencies.
This person must have strong communication and project management skills, be an effective
team player, and excellent organizer to handle multiple tasks.
The graduate assistant will work 15-20 hours a week at $25/hr. The position will be hired from January 1 - December 31, 2025.
Qualifications
Current graduate student at the U of U. Demonstrated ability to work independently,
analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational
skills. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions
of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus one year of related experience or equivalency. Previous experience with Hinckley internships and/or AmeriCorps. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Results oriented and achievement driven. Ability to work independently. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Essential Functions
U Service Corps Assistance: Serve as a resource for students to answer questions and
advise on issues associated with all components of the U Service Corps. Assist in
maintaining an accurate and detailed database of all U Service Corps students and
alumni. Coordinate with AmeriCorps and state government staff on processing of student
forms and management of timesheets. Significant interpersonal communication with Hinckley
