Associate Therapist

About Us:
Becoming Exceptional Healing Center & Resources is a fast-growing therapy practice dedicated to helping individuals heal from trauma, build resilience, and strengthen family systems. We provide a safe, supportive, and creative environment for clients of all ages, fostering healing through play therapy, art therapy, and sandtray therapy.

 

Job Summary:
We seek an Associate Therapist to join our team and contribute to our mission of healing trauma and promoting mental wellness. The ideal candidate will work with clients aged 2 years and older, offering therapy services both in-person and via telehealth. You will be part of a collaborative, family-focused environment prioritizing integrity, self-care, and professional growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive therapeutic environment for clients of all ages.
  • Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions using evidence-based and creative approaches, such as play therapy, art therapy, and sandtray therapy.
  • Schedule client appointments, process payments, and document clinical notes promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and consistent therapeutic space, including cleaning and resetting the playroom after sessions.
  • Participate in supervision and training to achieve and maintain licensure requirements.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, team members, and external contacts.
  • Address various mental health concerns, including trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, grief, and relationship challenges.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by providing and receiving feedback.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (e.g., MSW) with licensure as a CSW or MFT (or in the process of obtaining licensure).
  • Training or experience in Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, or trauma-focused modalities.
  • Knowledge of attachment theory and experience working with children and families.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SimplePractice, and basic computer functions.

 

Acceptable Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Master’s program in a related field (e.g., MSW, MFT).
  • Interest in creative therapeutic approaches such as Play, Sandtray, or Art Therapy.
  • Foundational understanding of trauma, attachment, and systems-based therapy.

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage with clients in a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and age-appropriate manner.
  • Dependable, honest, and committed to personal and professional growth.
  • Creative, collaborative, and flexible in therapeutic approaches.
  • Understanding of trauma and its effects on individuals and families.
  • Capable of working with families and facilitating systems-based interventions.

 

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience facilitating group therapy or teaching psychoeducational classes.
  • Ability to conduct attachment and relationship-focused therapy sessions

Compensation:

  • Salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Opportunity for training in specific certifications may apply.
  • Position will grow into full-time as client demand increases.
  • Saturdays, mornings, and some evenings required. Hours determined based on 
    client needs and space availability (when not being used by another clinician). 


Additional Requirements:

  • Interest in working with children, families, and individuals through creative and evidence-based therapies.
  • Comfort with physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding sessions.
  • Willingness to clean and organize therapy spaces after sessions.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and licensure requirements.


Reporting Structure:
The Associate Therapist will report directly to Andrea Lauritzen, owner of Becoming Exceptional Healing Center & Resources. Supervision for licensure will be provided in-house as needed.
