It is your responsibility to ensure that your degree and licensing requirements are met. Your academic advisor
is available to help you. Please meet with the MSW advisor at least once per academic
year to ensure you are on track.

Courses:
- All courses are held on Friday evenings and Saturday days.
- Practicum (field) hours are completed on other weekdays. They cannot be completed
at the applicant’s place of employment. Due to the nature of needing evening practicum
hours, agency options are limited.
Grades:
- MSW students must earn a C+ or better in each of the required courses, including Practicum,
to take the second course in any sequenced courses (e.g., Practice I and Practice
II), and to move forward in the program.
- All MSW students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA in order to be in good academic
standing.
Area of Focus:
- Students in the Child Welfare (Title IV-E) MSW Distance Program will take courses
in the Child Welfare area of focus.
- *Students in the Child Welfare (Title IV-E) MSW Distance Program will take Substance
Use Practice I as 3 elective course credits.
- **Students in the Child Welfare (Title IV-E) MSW Distance Program will take Mental
Health Practice I as their advanced practice course outside the Child Welfare area
of focus.
- School Social Work is not an area of focus. School SW courses count as elective course
credits.
Reminders:
- Students in the Child Welfare (Title IV-E) MSW Distance Program must successfully
complete a minimum of 60 credit hours to graduate.
- Only courses offered within the Child Welfare (Title IV-E) MSW Distance Program may
be taken (section numbers 830, 831).
- Registration is by permission code. Your advisor will send registration information
and permission codes ahead of each semester. Your seat in each course is reserved.
