Overview
This presentation will highlight the impact of migration factors on the mental health
of Latine/x communities. It will introduce a migration-centered assessment framework
to assist clinicians working with Spanish-speaking and immigrant communities. Additionally,
it will outline culturally responsive practices to support community well-being in
the therapeutic space and the community.

About Presenter
Yvette Romero Coronado, LCSW, is an associate professor (clinical) at the University of Utah College of Social Work. She developed and teaches MSW courses that emphasize ethical practice, cultural humility, and field-based learning. As a bilingual and bicultural clinical social worker, educator, and community advocate with over 15 years of experience in trauma-informed care and culturally responsive mental health services, her work centers on integrating Latine/x epistemologies and traditional Mesoamerican healing practices into both clinical and educational settings. The founder of Madre Tierra Counseling & Consulting LLC, Prof. Romero Coronado provides psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families, alongside consultation and training for organizations seeking to implement healing-centered and culturally sustaining practices.
