The University of Utah College of Social Work Presents

Men’s Mental Health Matters

Part of the Grand Challenges for Social Work Lecture Series

 Location: Online via Zoom
Date: Wednesday, September 27, 2023
Time: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM (MT)

Overview

Over the last decade, middle-aged men have demonstrated significant increases in suicide behavior. Research shows this group is less likely to seek and utilize supportive mental health services for a variety of reasons that are often grounded in stigma and stereotypes.

This event will begin with an examination of the mental health challenges specific to men. Next, attendees will learn about one surprising way that men are being engaged in supportive mental health conversations, then, how creative thinking is helping to improve help-seeking behaviors. An engaging panel discussion with audience Q&A will follow.
