The TAP contract provides consultation services to the DJJS Research and Evaluation and Training Bureaus. The services provided by SRI will enable DJJS to more fully incorporate:
- The principles of evidence-based treatment for juvenile offenders
- General principles of Implementation Science to increase program effectiveness
- Evidence-based principles of adult learning to increase training effectiveness
It is anticipated that the technical assistance will be usable by the agency in other initiatives. Towards this end, the evaluators are using a train-the-trainers approach and developing all tools (e.g. templates for assessing training, coaching guides, and fidelity measures) in a way that allows these tools to be used by trained DJJS Research & Evaluation Bureau and Training Bureau staff without evaluator involvement in the future.
