Study Dates: 2007 Study Description: Independent analysis of effectiveness research regarding privatizing prisons. Study found mixed results on comparisons of public and private facilities. The data we reviewed do not support a move toward privatization. Similarly, the data do not clearly discourage privatization despite a slight advantage for publicly managed prisons in skills training.
