Position Summary

The Therapist is responsible for providing individualized mental health services to children, adolescents, and families involved in foster care, reunification, and community-based services. The therapist will maintain a caseload of approximately 10–25 clients, depending on full-time or part-time status. Services include individual, family, and collateral therapy, mental health assessments, treatment planning, crisis support, and collaboration with caseworkers, proctor parents, and multidisciplinary team members to support client stability, healing, and permanency goals.

Location: Millcreek/Sugar House, UT

Pay: $25+/hr Depending on Experience/Education

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapy services to assigned clients using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Maintain an active caseload of approximately 10–25 clients depending on employment status and availability.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that are clinically appropriate and relevant to client needs.
  • Complete therapy documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, and assessments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide family therapy services with biological families to support reunification efforts and/or with proctor families to promote healthy and supportive living environments.
  • Collaborate regularly with caseworkers, proctor parents, schools, medical providers, and other treatment team members regarding client progress and ongoing needs.
  • Participate in team meetings to provide client updates, coordinate care, and support collaborative treatment planning.
  • Maintain consistent communication with caseworkers and families as a reliable point of contact regarding the client’s mental health and treatment progress.
  • Provide court updates, reports, and recommendations when requested or required.
  • Support crisis intervention, emotional regulation, and behavioral stabilization for clients when needed.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards in accordance with agency policies, licensing regulations, and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related mental health field. CSW are also welcome to apply, LCSW supervision can be provided.
  • Active licensure or associate licensure in the state of Utah.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, families, foster care, trauma, or reunification services preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, family systems, and evidence-based therapeutic practices.
