Clinical Study Assistant

Job Summary

The Clinical Study Assistant will be housed in the University of Utah, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Epidemiology’s Program for Addiction Research, Clinical Care, Knowledge and Advocacy (PARCKAhttps://medicine.utah.edu/internal-medicine/epidemiology/parcka. Job duties will require interaction with study participants, investigators, clinic, and research/evaluation staff. The incumbent will work closely with the project coordinators and managers to accomplish study goals and meet timelines per study guidelines. We are hiring for a couple of new projects; one being an evaluation of patient experiences with the Utah Medical Cannabis Program.

Essential Functions

 

  1. Adheres to all aspects of a protocol, complying with regulations and procedures.
  2. Explains and obtains informed consent.
  3. Conducts research assessments, including structured assessments of sensitive topics with high-risk populations.
  4. Answers patient queries and maintains research records in compliance with regulations.
  5. Determines visit windows from protocol, schedules subject visits and sends visit reminders to help retain them in the study and prevent study attrition.
  6. Ensures study visits and procedures do not conflict with existing schedules.
  7. Review medical records for patient data and complete data entry process for study using various databases.
  8. May travel to a variety of sites both within and outside the University campus to obtain data.
  9. Attend research meetings with team members and investigators.

 

Successful completion of CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research Subject and Good Clinical Practices certificates obtained within 2 weeks of hire date. Effective communication skills are required.
