Programming Internship

Provides support and assists with the overall administration and development of specific department programs and services.

The learning objectives of this internship will include:
i. Strategic content planning
ii. Coordinated student development programming and support
iii. Community engagement
iv. Data analysis, reporting, and optimization


As part of this internship, a final project in one (or all) of the areas above will be required.

This internship is open to all current students regardless of federal work-study status.

The Basic Needs Collective (BNC) functions as a space for student interaction, community development, and a coordinated exchange of information in order to promote wellness as a key to student success. Recognizing the many factors that contribute to wellness, the BNC seeks to provide a central location for resources related to food security, affordable housing, health insurance, managing finances, legal services, and mental health, to name a few. In order to do this, the BNC builds upon the existing success of institutional and community partnerships to facilitate supporting students through warm introductions and connections to internal and external partners.

Job Duties Include, but are not necessarily limited to:
  1. Assists with program planning and implementation.
  2. Conducts intake, assessment, and resource referrals.
  3. Compiles, sorts, and organizes data for entry into a database, and distributes program information.
  4. Answers inquiries and gives information, takes messages, or transfers to appropriate individuals.
  5. Greets visitors and communicates with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.
  6. Responds to queries from and coordinates activities with other departments, the community, and program partners.
  7. Assists in the creation and distribution of program materials, forms, and general correspondence.
  8. May track and report on current trends to determine future program needs.
  9. May provide program-specific training.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
  11. As part of this internship, a final project will be required.
