Research Assistant

Job Description

Dr. Sarah Canham is looking to hire an Hourly Research Assistant (job code 2966) to support the conduct of a scoping review of peer-reviewed research on the topic of discrimination toward persons experiencing homelessness.

RA Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate peer-reviewed research for relevance to the project topic
  • Extract primary data from existing literature
  • Create an Excel database of extracted findings
  • Organize study findings into categories and sub-themes based on inductive analysis
  • Summarize findings and themes from extracted data
  • Consult with project investigators for guidance on data extraction, organization, and analysis
  • Develop reports and presentations of findings for lay and academic audiences

Qualifications

  • Strong interest and ability in reading and evaluating peer-reviewed literature and extracting pertinent data
  • Experience supporting or conducting systematic literature reviews
  • Experience or familiarity with managing data in Excel
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn citation management software (e.g., Endnote, Zotero)
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn systematic review management software (e.g., Covidence)

Pay will be based on university rates. The position will be approximately 200 hours until January 2024, with flexibility to begin as soon as April 1, 2023. This position is not eligible for the graduate tuition benefit program. All applicants must be employment eligible.
