Program Manager

The Center for Global Surgery seeks a Program Manager to assist with planning and coordination of its activities as a key member of the team. The successful candidate will have strong communication and writing skills and will be able to both work independently and in groups. Attention to detail, planning and follow-up and a drive to research best methods and to bring them to the group are critical. Manager must become so well-versed in Global Surgical issues that he/she can represent our group at meetings and conferences, to coordinate with the departmental development officer, and to serve as a liaison to campus and outside communities.

Responsibilities

General office management (purchasing and reporting, budgeting and management of office support team).

Publications (both electronic and print) and social media. Must not only assist with management but also content development.

Website management, grant research and applications Support for students and fellows.

Coordination of travel for faculty and students.

Coordination of annual Extreme Affordability Conference including: Timeline, speakers, venue, food, attendees, CME , travel, volunteers, PR and printing etc.

Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
