Support Group Facilitator

The Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) is seekingPRN/part-time Support Group Facilitator to lead onsite groups in a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Recovery program on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Our Intensive Outpatient Recovery program leads support groups onsite at the HMHI on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5:30pm - 8pm. Our Support Group Facilitators will be scheduled each week to setup/takedown regularly scheduled group spaces, facilitate discussion, and encourage participation in activities and conversation.

Our Support Group Facilitators will not provide therapy, but will serve in a critical role to help identify and escalate situations and cases for therapy or intervention.

Our ideal candidate has experience in providing direct patient care within a mental health environment, experience with patients/clients managing Substance Use Disorders (SUD), and experience in leading support groups.

Qualified candidates must meet the requirements to work as one of the following: Psychiatric Technician, Certified Peer Specialist, Social Services Worker, or Certified Social Worker (CSW).

Qualifications for each job category are below:

Psychiatric Technicians require at least:

  • Associate's Degree, or equivalent 2 years of related Patient Care experience

  • or 1 year of college and 1 year related Patient Care experience

Certified Peer Specialists require:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent 4 years of related Patient Care experience.

  • Current Certified Peer Support Specialist license (training and licensing information is available here: https://dsamh.utah.gov/education/certification/peer-support)

Social Services Workers (SSW) require:

  • Current license to practice as a Social Service Worker in the State of Utah.

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree.

Certified Social Workers (CSW) require:

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • One of the following licenses:

  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) certificate for clinical practice in the State of Utah.

  • Current license to practice as a Certified Social Worker in the State of Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Screening and assessment of individual needs to develop plans for service provision in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.

  • Provides crisis intervention support and assists with skill development.

  • Identifies and provides outreach in the form of information and referrals for community resources to patients and families such as shelter, transportation, future treatment plans and financial assistance.

  • Collaboration, education, outreach, and coordination with community partners.

  • Complete clinical documentation under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional.

  • May perform some Case Management duties.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job outlined above.

  • Care is appropriate to the population served.

  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, problem solve, and resolve conflicts for individuals, couples and groups.

  • Ability to identify and arrange community resources that provide individualized assistance for patients, which may involve post-treatment financial assistance, shelter and transportation.

  • Ability to make recommendations based upon experience regarding policy and delivery of service.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development.

  • Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

  • Current license to practice as a Social Service Worker in the State of Utah.
