Athletics Tutor

The Burbidge Athletics Academic Center is seeking all undergraduates, graduates and non- students to apply for our academic tutor position. Our tutors are carefully selected as we hold high expectations for our tutors. Tutors will adhere to the University of Utah policies on academic integrity and community standards, in addition to the policies and regulations set forth by the PAC 12 Conference and the NCAA .

Hours are flexible. In addition, our tutor sessions are held via in-person (where safe) and online via the ZOOM platform. We also offer CRLA certification training (level 1, level 2, & level 3) for those interested. Tutors who earn CRLA Certification will earn a pay raise and have the opportunity to have guaranteed weekly hours.

Tutors are sought in a variety of subject areas including but not limited to: Business; Mathematics and Statistics; Sciences; Languages; Engineering; and Kinesiology


  • Review class material, discuss the text, preparing for tests, formulating ideas for papers, and working on solutions to help improve academic skills and abilities;
  • Engage the student-athlete, as well as explain and demonstrate difficult course material;
  • Demonstrate professional behavior at all times including being punctual, adequately prepared, respectful, etc.;
  • Adapt to various styles of learning and modify tutoring techniques accordingly;
  • Remain ethical in their academic dealings and NEVER complete assignments for the students being tutored;
  • Under NO circumstances disclose or otherwise compromise any confidential information about the student-athlete acquired during the study session (academically related or not)

Minimum Qualifications

  • All tutors must be in good academic standing
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • The applicant must be willing and able to assist a diverse population of students including entering freshmen, continuing, and international students
  • An unofficial copy of your transcript
  • All non-students must have earned a bachelor’s degree or related professional certification
  • Additional Required Qualifications: Must have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
