Graduate Assistant

In the coming weeks, we will be hiring for some Graduate Assistant positions which will begin spring 2022. The students hired for these positions will be part of a pool of Graduate Assistants and work 10 hours per week for various Social Work faculty members, assisting with faculty research projects. Duties for these positions may entail searching research databases for relevant peer-reviewed articles, writing literature reviews, entering data, conducting interviews, analyzing data, writing research reports, or other research duties as assigned.  Each Graduate Assistant position will begin on January 1, 2022 and continue until May 15, 2022. Graduate Assistants working 10 hours per week may be entitled to a tuition benefit.  Please refer to the University of Utah’s Graduate School website to determine eligibility (https://gradschool.utah.edu/index.php).  There are no health/medical or other benefits associated with this position.  Salary for this position will be $4,035 for all of spring semester.  Employees are paid semi-monthly on the 7th and 22nd of each month (9 equal payments of 448.33 per semester) through direct deposit.

MSW students who would like to apply for one of these positions should submit a letter of intent which explains your interest in the position and any current research interests, along with a current resume and a writing sample. The writing sample can be a recent paper you’ve written for a class or any academic writing that you have done. Your writing sample should represent your own work (not a group project), include APA citation of sources, and demonstrate integration of peer-reviewed literature in the service of making an academic argument.

Strong applicants will be students who have previous research experience, strong writing skills, and a desire to participate in the research process.
