Clinical Mental Health Therapist

Functions of the Job:

  • Appropriately diagnose mental health and substance-related conditions using the DSM 5.
  • Appropriately assess client needs using agency and program approved tools.
  • Assess, diagnose, use & interpret relevant clinical tools (RANT, LS/CSI, SASSI, ASAM, ect.) to inform best practice decisions relating to client admission, treatment plan development and revision, termination of client services, and reducing level of care.
  • Utilize the Therapeutic Community model as the main component of treatment.
  • Conduct individual, family, and group therapy as assigned.
  • Develop effective level of rapport with clients on caseload while maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Complete thorough and effective assessments, funding extension requests, and other legal or professional reports in required timeframes.
  • Coordinate client psychiatric evaluations and other wrap-around services to provide effective care.
  • Complete treatment planning within required time frame.
  • Utilize motivational techniques to retain and support client progress.
  • Actively utilize the treatment team for clinical support on caseload.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities with clients.
  • Connect clients to community resources.
  • Complete service documentation within the appropriate client management system within 24 hours.
  • Provide Crisis Management services and support culture of safety for clients and staff, including impromptu support for both clients and staff.
  • Accurately document services using ASAM Dimensional Analysis format, including all required elements.
  • Complete service documentation within the appropriate client management system within 24 hours.
  • Proactively involve and communicate with collateral supports, including family, significant others, probation officers, judges, caseworkers, and others.
  • Support Clinical Director and Program Director in creating and mainlining healthy team and milieu culture.
  • Document all incidents immediately and report as required.
  • Perform position in accordance with professional ethical guidelines and code of conduct.
  • Maintain active and appropriate licenses for the roles and duties assigned.
  • Complete accurate and thorough client reports, such as court reports, in required timeframes.
  • Talent for resolving client & team issues and conflicts.
  • Perform position to maintain compliance with governing bodies, administrative directives, payer sources, etc.
  • Fulfill on-call responsibilities and respond to those whom you supervise in a timely manner to mitigate concerns or problems as they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Licensure / Education / Prior Experience Required:

Licensed Mental Health Professional, including: CSW, LCSW, ACMHC, LCMHC, MFTI, LMFT and Psychologist. If working with children or vulnerable adult population, must pass a criminal background check. First Aid and CPR Certification. Graduate degree in mental health field.

Must comply with annual TB tests, Flu and other immunizations.

Pass pre-employment drug screen and be willing to undergo drug screenings as a condition of employment.

Must meet employment eligibility.

Physical Demands of the Job: Ability to lift up to 15 lbs, driving (or adequate alternate transportation), sitting for prolonged periods, light to moderate physical activity at times. Able to passively restrain residents without likely injury to self due to existing medical condition.
