High Needs Hotel Case Manager

The Road Home seeks employees that have a deep commitment to the mission of serving adults and families that are experiencing homelessness. High Needs Hotel (HNH) Case Managers will provide compassionate and quality customer service to these individuals while working for the state’s largest homeless shelter system.

The HNH Case Manager will help operate the High Needs motel as part of the County’s “Stay Safe Stay Home” housing program, which was established to protect the highest risk individuals in the homeless community from COVID-19.

Job Duties

  1. Provide quality customer service to hotel guests
  2. Assist with the coordination of COVID-19 testing of residents.
  3. Troubleshoot community concerns and supports community outreach efforts.
  4. Utilize the Utah HMIS to coordinate care and service delivery to residents in the High Needs facility.
  5. Ensure residents are practicing physical distancing and COVID-19 hygiene practices.
  6. Supply residents with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
  7. Provide direct case management services to guests of the VP Motel, including crisis intervention, assessments, goal setting, problem solving, agency and community resource utilization, and network building.
  8. Attend weekly staff/staffing meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  9. Keep records, case management notes, and statistical data as required and participate in research and/or special projects as needed.
  10. Operate as part of a team that strives to serve the homeless in our community.
  11. Referral to local substance abuse programs.
  12. Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

  1. Experience working with diverse populations required.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

  1. Strong interpersonal and excellent customer service skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  2. Interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.
  3. Follow strict data privacy guidelines.
  4. Understand when to refer individuals or situations to medical, social, or supervisory resources.
  5. Demonstrate emotional intelligence.
  6. Be flexible and adaptable.
  7. Good computer skills.
  8. Creativeness in problem-solving.
  9. Willingness to accept supervision, direction, and constructive feedback.
  10. Willing to be a proactive member of a team.
  11. Reliable and dependable.
  12. Ability to communicate effectively and handle difficult situations with professionalism and compassion from a Trauma-Informed Care framework.
  13. Understanding of the Housing First philosophy. Willingness to have conversations with guests about housing.
  14. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations. Ability to contribute to the agency’s commitment to enhancing awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
  15. Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.


Physical and Equipment Requirements

- Ability to lift 25 pounds.

- Ability to stand and/or walk for at least an hour or more.
