Assistant Professor (Lecturer)

The University of Utah, College of Social Work invites applications for (2) 12-month, 1.0 FTE career-line faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor (Lecturer). These are a non-tenure track positions intended to be long-term within the University’s Career-Line Faculty structure, with renewable contracts.

The University of Utah and the College of Social Work value candidates who have experience working in settings with students from diverse backgrounds, and possess a strong commitment to improving access to higher education for historically underrepresented students.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must be MSW -prepared Social Workers; Ph.D. in Social Work is preferred. A minimum of three years social work teaching is required; five or more years teaching online, distance, and/or in-person is strongly preferred. Additionally, a minimum of three years of post- MSW social work practice is required; five or more years of post- MSW practice is preferred. Experience with curriculum development is desirable.

The successful candidate will teach four courses during each semester: Fall, Spring, and Summer. Responsibilities include developing courses or course materials, committee work, and other duties as assigned. Teaching assignments may include evening, weekend, online, and distance classes. We especially encourage candidates with expertise in the following areas to apply: Substance use, mental health, diversity & reflexive social work, and generalist courses within the MSW and BSW programs.
