Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Makana Leadership Academy is based on a relational model and strives to create an environment of safety, respect, and positive relationships. It is imperative that all clients feel safe, loved and cared for, while still holding boundaries, ethical obligations and corrections as needed for safety.

The Primary Therapist (PT) is an integral part of the Makana Team and will help establish and maintain the culture of the company. Primary Therapists (PT) ensures that each individual client is highly regarded as an individual and that all therapy, treatment, and activities are in the best interest of the client.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Mindset& Education:

  • Operates off of a high level of empathy, kindness, and compassion and as a result is other-focused; always seeking out the pain point for those we service, work with, and partner alongside of.
  • Ability to work with flexibility, creativity, and accountability, while maintaining respect for others' concerns.
  • Minimum of a master’s degree (LCSW, MFT, MSRS, SUDC) and state board approved licensure in the State of Utah through DOPL to conduct therapy.
  • New Master’sGraduates who are adaptively creative and teachable are encouraged to apply.
  • 3+ years relevant experience in behavioral health leadership or equivalent field working with troubled teens and their families.
  • Familiarization with the benefits of experiential intervention and therapy that is coupled with interpersonal leadership curricula and relational based models of treatment.
  • Experience integrating a diverse range of therapeutic modalities a plus.

 

Key Responsibilities:

●        Ensure all treatment notes are timely, documented, and up to standard for milieu and insurance purposes.

●        Tag team with the Clinical Director to receive opportunities to obtain and maintain appropriate CME’s.

●        Partner with the management team to improve, innovate, and implement new ideas in treatment.

●        Manage an average caseload of eight clients.

●        Provide a minimum of two individual and two group therapy sessions per week per client.

●        Provide a minimum of one family session per week per client family while ensuring that parents receive weekly client updates and treatment findings.

●        Partner with the Director of Parent & Family Programs to ensure that client and families collective needs are being addressed, met, and supported.

●        Be an integral part of our clients care by mentoring our frontline team by being an active part of campus activities, not just a desk jockey.

●        Provide routine updates to referring partners on client’s progress and be open minded to recommendations that are received.

●        Attend meetings and conferences as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

●        Be over 24 years of age

●        Be able to pass a criminal background check.

●        Be professional in conduct and appearance.

●        Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

●        Be able to pass a random drug screen.

●        Must be able to maintain professional standards and boundaries with the clients.

●        Be able to build positive relationships with others and teach the importance of this concept.

●        CPR/FA certified within the first 60 days of hire

●        PCS/Aegis trained within the first 60 days of hire.
